The Gallitzin Tunnels
Title:  The Gallitzin Tunnels
Description:  An eastbound double-stack train exits the 3,612 ft. Allegheny Tunnel. This was the first of the "Gallitzin Tunnels" which opened in 1854. The Gallitzin Tunnel (to the right) was the last to open in 1904 and was closed in 1995 after modifications to the Allegheny and Portage Tunnels were completed to handle double-stack containers.
